A' Hunting We Shall Go!

When I first read the following email, I wondered if the numbers had been exaggerated.  I confirmed the Wisconsin numbers from independent sources on the number of hunting licenses sold this year.  I therefore assume the remainder of the emails statistics are also accurate.

Pretty damn amazing.  The insight and implications are huge.

Here’s the email:

“The state of Wisconsin has gone an entire deer hunting season without someone getting killed. That’s great. There were over 600,000 hunters.

“Allow me to restate that number. Over the last two months, the eighth largest army in the world — more men under arms than Iran; more than France and Germany combined — deployed to the woods of a single American state to help keep the deer menace at bay.

But that pales in comparison to the 750,000 who are in the woods of Pennsylvania this week. Michigan ‘s 700,000 hunters have now returned home. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia, and it is literally the case that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world.

“America will forever be safe from foreign invasion of troops with that kind of home-grown firepower.

“Hunting — it’s not just a way to fill the freezer. It’s a matter of national security!”

Thank God for the 2nd Amendment, hmm?

And bear in mind that the author of the email only listed four States–and mostly northern States, at that.  I can guarantee that there are a bunch of “good ol’ boys” in the Southern States who like hunting just as much as those guys in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.  You add in the number of hunters in all 50 States, and you absolutely have the world’s largest number of hunters-militia.

The enormous number of American hunters-milita must scare the hell out of our government and politicians.

We the People are not the “800-pound gorilla”.  We are the 8,000-pound gorilla.  We run this country, if we care to.  And we can take it all back anytime we decide to hunt something other than deer.

We’re encouraged to “thank a soldier for our freedoms” but I fail to see which of my freedoms have been taken or threatened by the foreign governments of Iraq or Afghanistan.

Instead, your and my freedoms are persistently threatened and diminished by our own domestic government in Washington DC.  The only thing that keeps those treasonous whores on the leash is the considerable threat posed by gun-toting Americans.

Next time you want to “thank” someone “for your freedoms,” don’t thank a soldier–thank a hunter.
