“Government is Inherently Good”?!!

The Washington Times recently reported (“Harry Reid:  ‘Government is Inherently Good’”) that,

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said he can’t understand why the tea party remains popular, given its similarity to the anarchist movement and its steadfast opposition to the ‘inherently good’ government.”

“Inherently good government”?

“Inherently good government”?!

Are you kidding me?!!

Has Senator Reid lost his mind?  Is he becoming overwhelmed by his sense of guilt?  Or is he merely so ignorant that he doesn’t understand that this country started with the presumption that government was a “necessary evil” wherein the “necessary” was often debatable, but the “evil” was virtually certain?

George Washington implied the inherently wicked nature of government when he said, “Government, like fire, is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.”  Washington surely didn’t see government as “inherently good”.  He saw it as, at best, a dangerous servant.  At best.  Necessary, perhaps.  But always dangerous.

Poll: 29% of Registered Voters Believe Armed Revolution Might Be Necessary in Next Few Years

The Statue of Liberty, also known as Lady Libe...

The Statue of Liberty is also known as Lady Liberty but her official name is Liberty Enlightening the World. This statue might soon come to regain its former meaning.  (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

For those of you who think you’re virtually alone in your anti-government sentiments . . . for those of you who think that those of us who want a restoration of liberty are only a tiny minority . . . there’s a recent poll indicating that 29% of the American people believe that a shooting revolution may be required to protect our liberties from our own government.

29% translates into about 90 million Americans who already believe that government has gone too far–and plans to go further–down the road into a police state and overt tyranny.

Thus, 29% of Americans are aware of, or at least sympathetic to, the idea expressed in the Declaration of Independence that “. . . when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”

29%.

We are not alone.  The ideas, attitudes and concerns shared on this blog and hundreds more like it are not only proliferating but are far more common than most people imagine.  We are not the “lunatic fringe”.  We are mainstream and growing stronger.

We are winning.

Crime Causes Economic Collapse

FINANCIAL CRIMES NOW POSE “THE BIGGEST THREAT” (Photo credit: Renegade98)

At a recent economic conference at the Philadelphia Federal Reserve, academics gathered to discuss fixing the banking system, including ending fractional reserve lending. The video below is an excerpt from that conference featuring the comments of Professor Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University. A few minutes into the recording, Professor Sachs condemns the banking system saying things like:

“The final problem is separating the politicians from the crooks–but maybe that’s the same community. . . . I believe we have a crisis of values that’s extremely deep. . . . I regard the moral environment on Wall Street as pathological. . . . They are tough, greedy and out of control. . . . We have a corrupt politics to the core. . . . The corruption is everywhere–it’s lead to a sense of impunity. . . . I’ve waited for a judge, a president, somebody to do something–but it’s not going to happen anytime soon.”

Democide: Mass Murder by Governments

In the 20th Century, more people were murdered by their own governments than killed by war. Governments don’t buy all those weapons merely to protect the country against foreign invaders. Governments buy those weapons in case the government has to defend itself against its own people.

US Homicide Rate A.D. 1885-2012

I received a copy of the following graph by email.  I don’t know who prepared the graph nor can I verify the numbers presented.  However, the evidence “rings true” with me so I assume it’s correct. The implications are fairly obvious and significant:

1) The “wild west”–when virtually everyone had access to firearms–had a much lower homicide rate than was ever seen under any measure of “gun control”.

2) As more guns reenter society under the guise of concealed carry, the homicide rate is declining.

3) Given that the homicide rate is already declining, the government must have an ulterior motive for promoting gun control.  Their current excuses for gun control are lies.

4) Guns save far more lives than they take.

One Good Question Deserves Another

According this video, President Obama has asked top members of the American military, “Will you fire on American Citizens?”

If the video is true, then it’s reasonable that the People of The United States of America each ask themselves, “Will I fire on American government?”

Mini-Seminar by Adask

Adask at Hells Canyon

Adask at the “gates” of Hell’s Canyon, Idaho

I was recently interviewed by Stephen Roberts on “Cancel the Cabal”.  During that video interview, I explored the concepts of sovereignty and the “sovereignty movement,” as well as potential applications of the 1st, 2nd and 9th Amendments, and “MOOA” (“man or other animals”) in relation to drug laws, the war on drugs, police state, big pharma, and American medicine.

The interview lasts almost two hours.  It’s too long to be an “interview,” but it might reasonably be described as a “mini-seminar”.  Most won’t have the time to listen to the entire presentation.  But it’s actually a pretty good general introduction to a number of concepts, so, if you’re inclined to listen, here’s the link:

Hipshots

Three current events plus a few of my offhand remarks (“hipshots”).  Nothing profound, but possibly interesting.

•  West Point Cadets Taught Patriots Are Terrorists   According to Minute Man News, a new 148-page report is urging West Point students to consider many private Americans who claim to be “patriots”– and who are thus critical of government–to actually be American “terrorists”:

“This study, released by the United States Military Academy’s Combating Terrorism Center, is entitled “Challengers from the Sidelines: Understanding America’s Violent Far-Right.” Its author, Professor Arie Perliger, the Director of Terrorism Studies at the Combating Terrorism Center and Assistant Professor at the Department of Social Sciences at West Point, holds membership in the Council on Foreign Relations and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee . . . .  Perliger warns that growing legions of conservative-minded citizens across the U.S. pose a serious threat to our nation’s safety.”

In fact, a recent survey by the Pew Foundation indicates that the percentage of Americans who distrust government has risen to 75%.  Apparently Mr. Perliger is telling West Point students to ignore the public’s growing displeasure with the federal government and treat all such “dissidents” as “terrorists”.  Contrary to Mr. Perligner’s assertions, these dissidents do not pose a threat to “our nation’s safety”–they pose a threat to our nation’s government.  The government likes to argue that it’s best interests and the interests of our nation are one-in-the-same, but that’s not true.  In fact, the nation’s best interests and the government’s best interest are frequently, usually, and even primarily antithetical.  Thus, It’s entirely reasonable and generally inevitable that you be inclined to support your nation but resist your government.
