Dead Man Surfing

The video below exposes abuses of the Food Stamp program.  It illustrates the seemingly “good life” being lived by a California beach bum enjoying Food Stamps.  He uses his Food Stamp card to buy lobster.

The video is intended to stir up an emotional response, but it doesn’t disturb me.  In this particular case, Food Stamps seem wrong and stupid.  But, on the other hand, the Food Stamps are only giving this guy $200 a month.  I don’t see the sense in freaking out over $200 a month to some small-time hustler while our politicians are each ripping us off for tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, perhaps even million of dollars per year.  I don’t see the sense in criticizing the Food Stamp program while our government ships our industries and jobs overseas under the guise of “Global Free Trade”.

But I am disturbed by the beach bum’s arrogance.  He has no real job.  He has no real means of support other than government handouts and easy credit.  He laughs, he smirks, and celebrates his “good life” without seeming to understand his destination.   He’s 29 years old.  He’s going nowhere.  Within a couple of years, the surfing may be over and so might his life. Can this guy be taught to work at all, let alone work hard? What will he do when the gravy train comes to the end of the line?

He thinks he’s “gettin’ over”.  He might be right.  But I think he’s killing himself.

There’s something about being a dependent–a consumer–that seems conducive to suicide.  Suicide by drugs, suicide by alcohol, suicide by promiscuity or even suicide by taking too many risks.

Look at the African-American community. Lots of welfare; but also lots of drugs, promiscuity, crime and even murder. I can’t help wondering if welfare may be conducive to self-destruction.

But why focus only on Blacks? I’ll bet that half the country–including Blacks, Browns and Whites–is to some degree dependent on government welfare or subsidies to survive. If my notions about the need to be independently capable of supporting yourself are roughly correct, what will the future hold for a nation that’s half-dependent on government support?

I don’t doubt that some people can live quite comfortably as parasites, consumers and dependents. Youth seems most conducive to a consumer mentality.

But, as we age, I think that most of us have to “do something” that at least supports the illusion of personal worth. It’s not enough to merely “live”; most of us must have lives that at least seem to have meaning and value. Thus, we’re predisposed to live “independently”; to find that sense of self-worth that may be necessary to our survival. Not everyone dies who has a low sense of self-worth, but I suspect that the absence of self-esteem is a common cause for diminished life-expectancy.

So I see the guy in this video and he makes me wince.  He might still save himself, but for now–behind the grin, the girls and the surf–I doubt that he’ll live to be 40.  Despite his claim to be enjoying “another day in paradise,” I see a “dead man walkin'”–and he doesn’t seem to have a clue. His “paradise” is a nicely-tended graveyard.

His story is “fascinating” (attractive and repulsive) because: 1) he may be killing himself; and 2) he’s grinnin’ all the while. He’s using the surf the way some people use “crack”. It’s not a place to go so much as a place to hide.

I’m with you. I don’t blame Jason the beach bum, I blame the gov-co.’s socialism plan.

If we have to have a welfare system, why people don’t see a reasonable welfare system like having the recipients work for government at a low wage and fill those gov-co. jobs (But, that is common sense.).

Jason is the type, like most recipients, who want the good life without putting in the work it takes to be successful. He learned his way from his mother and father (if he had a father).

This is one of the problems with the welfare system: It is learned! Just like the white people of West Virginia who for generations stayed on welfare. It is learned. And the lesson continues and people justify it.

you know the ol’ saying: “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…. and if it is broke, it ain’t worth fixin'” seems to be the motto of the “ME” entitlement generation…. bummer, dude….

You can’t tell me that Jason is not aware of the fact that what he is doing is wrong, he knows that Food Stamps are intended to help those who cannot work, not those who can but choose not to. Al is correct about the fact that the young man is killing himself however he does know and understand right from wrong and he should be prosecuted and forced immediate restitution to the state should be his punishment, (he would have to get something foreign to his freeloading ass it’s called a J O B) along with never allowing him to receive the benefits in any one of the Administrative Divisions again as long as he lives being that he has abused the system he is bound by the Code to uphold all of the rules and the regulations he agreed to when he signed up for the benefit.

I did not have to watch the video as I have a niece and her husband who both are on the Government Dole, both are under 30 years old and perfectly capable of working but like Jason they choose not to, they are freeloading miscreants raising a child who will more than likely do the same and prime examples of the Obama Administrations Socialist Generations FINEST HOUR!

The visible evidence: fancy car, gas, insurance, expensive glasses, beer, cigarettes, and ONE lobster, but usually sushi, etc.

This is a hoax, or simply more revolutionary propaganda. Or perhaps the kid is heir to a family trust, so of course he has no job; he doesn’t need a job. $200 might cover the beer and cigarette expense for ONE week in California, certainly not groceries. (I know people in Oregon who trade off their “welfare” food for cash, and then go purchase cigs and beer with the cash.)

Jason the beach bum didn’t say he did not have any income, he said he did not have a “pay check,” so he qualifies.

In Illinois, the welfare program allows people to buy: food, beer, and clothing. Isn’t Illinois broke?

In Georgia, a single adult can receive $220 dollars / month for food. A single parent with 4 children at home receives $1,250 / month. Do the math?

Yar: Thanks. I recognize the no-paycheck qualification; however, Al said, “He has no real means of support….”. And no such high-brow parasite can exist for even a week on $200 in California. Scam or not, as always, we appreciate Al’s insights and lessons he freely passes on to us day after day.

He looks like an out of work actor from the Hollyweird industrial complex. He looks as if he has funds to live the good life. Maybe he should conduct seminars to teach others how to accomplish living the good life in post industrial.S.A.

I can’t help but wonder if the Food Stamp Program, and other “social services” aren’t set up in the same way that our entire society and government are…bonds being set up against the signatures of those wanting a so-called benefit. If our government and the baks didn’t stand to make a lot of money feeding the poor and selling the bonds created on the open market, we wouldn’t have these programs at all, right? I think it’s extremely possible that when you sign up for one of these programs, you’re actually signing away your rights to whatever assets you may have or may aquire in the future, as well as your children and your body. I know that when the paperwork is filled out, the person is required to list all of his/her assets. You have to do so with Obamacare also. YIKES! Is everything set up along the same lines as our prison system????? After all, these are the people who are the most likely to be hauled into court and thrown into prison on any pretext whatsover! Yes, I’m beginning to see some continuity here. The UNITED STATES does everything the way it does everything else…

To learn more about what is going on you need to study”Agenda 21″.
Feeding some useless eaters right now is just a way of buying time and keeping the show on the road.
You need to get to the core of the problem ans STOP nibbleing around the edges.

It is people like this and the illegal alien types that you people should congratulate. Thanks to individuals like this the GOV has been able to expand debt levels.T he ponzi scheme may have already collapsed by now . A debt based monetary system needs individuals like this that can borrow money into existence, otherwise the whole thing collapses.T he tranitional American aint borrowing money into existance much if at all .They are of more value at this time.

Good point well made, Peter. Offering “benefits” is the chief way the government has of turning People into statutory persons–of getting them under the same thumb they have the rest of us under, and controlling them. They put a bond into force, make a fortune, and the “beneficiary” gets a few food stamps in exchange. I doubt that the tax-payers are “footing the bill” for one bit of this when it comes right down to it.
