At first I thought, “11’8″? What’s wrong with that?” Then I remembered that the standard bridge clearance is 14’6″. 11’8″ is almost three feet shorter than that standard. Yikes! But there are many older bridges still in use that are shorter than the standard. No matter how many signs and warnings that are put up, some drivers aren’t going to see the signs or won’t realize they’re too tall to fit until it’s too late. Many of the trucks in this video were only an inch or two too high.

Good thing Jed became a Beverly Hill Billy instead of moving to Durham. I don’t think Granny would have fit.
