Colin Furze is England’s answer to Professor Fate.

Who’s Colin Furze?  You’ll see in a minute.

Who’s Professor Fate?

Some of you may remember The Great Race–an A.D. 1965 slapstick comedy starring Tony Curtis (“the Great Leslie”), Natalie Wood (Maggie DuBois), Peter Falk (Max) and Jack Lemmon (Professor Fate).

I saw the movie when it first came out, and I laughed throughout.  I thought it was the funniest film I’d ever seen.

Jack Lemon stole the show as the evil genius and arch-villain “Professor Fate”.

“Fate the Magnificent” was constantly inventing submarines, torpedoes, flying machines and a super-car to defeat the “hero” played by Tony Curtis.

If you’ve never seen, or don’t recall, The Great Race, here’s a short clip of Professor Fate celebrating his latest invention–the Hannibal Twin-8 motor car:

I’m reminded of Professor Fate’s bizarre inventions and mad laugh by Colin Furze–a young Englishman with a penchant for inventing rockets, flame throwers, jet-powered bicycles and the kind of devices most young boys dream of, but never actually build.  Colin is the young man every boy wants to be and the boy that every mother prays not to bear.

Here are a few of Colin Furze’s videos.  They have nothing to do with law, economics or politics.  But if you were ever a boy who wanted a chemistry set so you could build rockets and bombs, you’ll appreciate the mad-genius, crazy laughter and unbridled creativity of Colin Furze.  He’s at that awkward age where he has enough brains and ability to be dangerous and absolutely no concept of his own mortality.  He is Peter Pan with a machine shop.

(Stick with this video.  When it ends, it’ll automatically lead to three more videos:  the first test of this jet engine; installing the jet in the back of a van; installing the jet on a bicycle; riding the bicycle 6,190,573 views.

Isn’t youth great?

Thank you so very much Alfred. I just love that enthusiasm. It makes me think of all the talent, still left in America, that can be used to combat the negative. Wow. Watching him made me think of my talented welder friends who are nothing short of genius when it comes to that ‘sport’. Just makes me have energy to get up and do something – right now! Knowledge builds confidence, Confidence builds enthusiasm, and enthusiasm sells. Gimme some of that!

    Loved it.

Kinda curious, Al. Why did you include “to be white?”

Greetings and salutations to all. Wonderful job as always Alfred with respect to your choice on topics. My teenage daughter finally after many attempts on my part has watch the DC Comics Iron Man movies and loves them, well mostly Robert D’s version of Tony Stark. The night she watch the first one she had a dream the her father (me) was in fact Iron Man. What some people visiting this blog may not know is the fact that Mr Furze and I are threats to national security. Here in the United States (the venue) ITAR and EAR will make you a criminal or cause your intellectual property to be siezed. You have yo watch what you post in tutorials and DIY projects because of ITAR and EAR. Sorry to be a buzz kill but this is the reason we all do not have plasma shields around our real property at this time. Yes it is every boy and girl inventors dream to have such wonderful technology but what there never told is once the patent office gets ahold of it, it may no longer belong to you the inventor. God bless.
