American History 101:  The Star-Spangled Banner

The 4th of July!!

Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died.

Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.  Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured.

Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.

They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they?

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists.  Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of means, well educated, but they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.

Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the
British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.

Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton , Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed.  The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife’s bedside as she was dying.  Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished.
So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently thank these patriots. It’s not much to ask for the price they paid.

Liberty is a blessing that flows from our Father YHWH ha Elohiym but, in this world, that blessing is never free.

    Our Country was founded on Christian PRINCIPLES. However, what is a few people’s meat is most people’s GIBBERISH.

      Ooops. Here we have that C word again. wow. Even Thomas Jefferson uses the C word. In a few hours, for most People, it is Independence day. It’s the SADDEST DAY of the YEAR for me.

      Roger,I think you are rational, at times. You keep bringing up things like this, & I think you do so because you firmly believe you are an animal, but, a rational animal & so is everybody else, meaning we are either rational or irrational ANIMALS. I guess you think “God” has rational animal sense & a rational animal mind too. Am I, in your rational animal mind, being illogical, or, irrational for presuming this?

    Thomas Jefferson was not perfect. Satan has influenced people to think wrong in every possible way & this wrong thinking seems right. Even the Apostle Peter thought only “Judeans” were clean & all others were unclean UNTIL “God” showed him that NO MAN was to be thought of as unclean. STILL, things have not changed very much. Justice Taney referred to the Negro as “that unfortunate Race, degraded Race,inferior Race etc.”. SATAN is the CULPRIT. As Alfred asked, why do we have Courts of Appeals? Why are there 5 to 4 Supreme Court decisions? You see it your way & a few others see & understand it different. As for me, I do not believe people, Red, Yellow, Black or White are animals. HOWEVER ! we can degrade ourselves to become also called dogs & beasts of the field. King David said, for dogs have compassed me. A little research will show that these dogs were wicked men. Psalm 22. Also, this was a prophecy regarding the Messiah. David’s hands & feet were not pierced. Yeshua’s were though.

    Yes indeed the game of football has become the country’s national anthem …The super bowl song .. what a great propaganda machine … almost as good as the Romans, lions & christians in the arena to distract the people while the government was planning a little more control & other wars .. makes me think of today’s politicians passing bills on Xmas eve.

      I really enjoyed going to Church on Sunday & rapping with the Rev about the upcoming Sunday afternoon football game. He was a good Rev. Services were conducted rapidly. He liked football 2.

    I just now SEE that the 1st,what I thought was only a picture, is a VIDEO.I love the Red White & Blue, ol Glory. This 1st video, made me both laugh & cry. Sad to say it looks like the twilight’s last gleaming has faded away like the Republic for which it stood. The yellow fringed flag has replaced it. Yes, it is proper, in, a military courtroom.Thy Kingdom/Government hasten. His will WILL be done on earth as it IS in the 3rd Heaven. Amen

    America is still a British colony. The American flag sure looks a whole lot like that Virginia Land Company flag.

    I doubt the Mayflower Compact, Constitution and other such documents override those corporate charters granted by the various King Georges, James.

    Just a thought.

    Just a thought.

    kanani, the main idea on this blog, at present, is figuring out how to override, or, better said, ride over,&, roll over, the Les Fuchs Poster. Any suggestions? Any IDEAS will be appreciated. Thanks

    This may not be in line with the subject matter on this particular thread but given the latest on vaccine legislation, in the radio and t.v. forums no one ever mentions the MOOA defense and/or argument.
    It’s worth considering, whenever I mention anything to the general public about any subject on this blog (esp.MOOA) it’s amazing, it’s like I’m yelling FIRE!,FIRE! in a crowded theater and the audience just yawns or gets up to get more popcorn.
    Alfred, I am in extreme pain and endure it primarily due to the signing away and the consenting documents one must sign, waiving any rights (in “this state”) and subjecting yourself to an agent(doctor) and “drug’ tests. Not worth it, as the old saying goes: “no pain no gain”. I’ll endure the pain. these agents in the medical establishment have blood on their hands. I wnt no part of it.
    Consider next time your at Kroger they probably presume your an animal their for your animal feed, you are put on notice, as the storefront usually has a sign that says “FOOD AND DRUG” most grocery chains have this notice on the front of the stores.
    I used the MOOA #3 subject in a document in the past 6 months and I was pleased at how effective it was for my cause, Thank-you Mr. Adask.
    It just seems the big pharma steamroller just keeps going. A very necessary weapon in the warfare of capturing the minds of the People. Keeping them servile in the usury bondage in “this state”.
    As we observse all the even going on these are necesary to keep the system goin at thi point.

      I’m pleased that you’ve been able to use the MOOA argument with some positive effect. All of this kind of information always takes longer to have effect than you’d like or suppose. People, as you say, go about their business buying popcorn in a burning theater rather than rushing to the exits. It’s a shame, but it’s human nature and it’s been that way for thousands of years. The result of a people’s unwillingness to hear, understand and react accordingly is almost always a huge culling of the population. “My people perish (PERISH!) for lack of knowledge” isn’t simply a casual observation, cliche’ or metaphor. It’s a warning of the dire and inevitable consequences that follow a refusal to learn.

      Again, that’s all a shame. But it’s not news. It is arguably one of the fundamental themes of human history. That one principle probably lays at the heart of almost every news story. People refuse to learn. People perish.

      Anyway, I’m delighted that you’ve understood and had some success applying the MOOA argument.
