Things To Come: Flyboard

11 Apr

French jet ski champion and inventor, Franky Zapata, tests his “Flyboard”.

For the moment, this machine will only fly for a maximum of 10 minutes.  But you can see where this is going.  Most of us will live long enough to see a moment when some sort of personal, flying transportation is no only possible, but even practical.  We live in extraordinary times.

If I were 40 years younger . . . .  To heck with the 40 years–I want one!

Considering the risky things you’ve done in the past, like drilling into a mountain under a lake, not to mention your former career as a roofer, it seems to me it’s mainly the money holding you back. Do you remember the early days of the much bulkier jet pack when the early attempts to use one had the operator dancing at the end of a tether? You might get the chance to test the Flyboard sooner than you think!

My saintly mother (1913-2006) had a favorite song.
“One glad morning, when this life is o’er, I’ll fly away.
I will land on heaven’s celestial shore; I’ll fly away.
I’ll fly away, oh glory, I’ll fly away. When I die, hallelujah, by and by, I’ll fly away.”
