“There has never been an occasion where a people gave up their weapons in the interest of peace that didn’t end in their massacre.” Louis L’Amour reported in “Meanwhile In Chicago, 120 People Shot In First 10 Days Of 2016” that,

“Even as Obama takes his anti-gun crusade to new highs [by] dispensing executive orders, the president conveniently continues to ignore the state of affairs in his native Chicago—a city in which guns are banned—yet where the shooting epidemic has never been worse.

“According to the Chicago Tribune, the total number of shootings in the windy city has risen to 120 in just over a week into the new year . . . at least 19 people have been killed and at least 101 more have been wounded. This is three times higher than compared to the same period one year ago.

“Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi released a statement saying, ‘Every year Chicago Police recover more illegal guns than officers in any other city, and as more and more illegal guns continue to find their way into our neighborhoods. So it is clear we need stronger state and federal gun laws.‘”

That’s not “clear” at all.

What’s clear is that the Chicago Police Department is lying or stupid.  As you’ll read, there’s good evidence indicating that Chicago gun deaths aren’t due to Chicago’s gun control laws being too weak, but because their gun control laws are too strong.

Gun control kills.

The cops should know it.  Insofar as the Chicago Police Department advocates more gun control, it’s helping to cause, rather than prevent, more deaths.

GcMAF (Gc Macrophage Activating Factor)

A fascinating story is developing concerning a protein called “GcMAF”.  This protein is naturally produced in you body and is claimed to be critical to maintaining your natural immunities against hundreds, perhaps thousands, of diseases (including cancer, inflammation and even autism).

Atlhough GcMAF has been studied and even prescribed by doctors in other countries, the US pharmaceutical industry wants it banned from the US markets.  The Belgium-based Anticancer Fund warns that,

“GcMAF has not been properly studied in clinical trials and its laboratory results still need to be confirmed independently. So far, all claims on the efficacy of this product have no solid scientific basis. Its marketing is illegal; therefore there is no controlled guarantee on the quality of the product for human consumption sold over the internet.”

When it comes to the validity of any claims for medical or health care products, I’m reminded of an old definition for a “Canadian Gold Mine”:  “A hole the ground surrounded by liars.”

Americans are so obsessed with their health that there can be billions of dollars in profits associated with any new health care product.   One of the results of such enormous potential profits is that it’s always hard to perceive who’s the biggest liar–those who advocate a new health care product (to make new profits) or those who try to discredit it (and protect existing profits).

Government Collects Most of Your Insurance Premiums

Walter Burien [courtesy Google Images]

Twenty years ago, Walter Burien was the first layman to understand and publicize information about the CAFR (Comprehensive Annual Financial Report) accounts.  He explained that every political entity from school districts, to cities, counties, states and federal bureaucracies keep two sets of accounting records:  1) the budget (which is a mere guesstimate as to how much currency a political entity will acquire and spend during a future year); and 2) the CAFR account–which reports how much currency that entity actually took in and spent in a previous year.

For a number of reasons, the discrepancies between these two accounting systems is enormous.  While the “budget”may indicate that a state is operating on just $20 billion per year, the CAFR for that same state may reveal that the state actually took $100 billion in that year and essentially “pocketed” the extra $80 billion.  The government will use the lowly $20-billion “budget” to persuade taxpayers to agree to paying higher taxes–even though the state knows it will probably receive $100 billion in actual revenue.  The two sets of books are intended to deceive.

Obamacare: No Reasonable Expectation of Privacy

[courtesy Google Images]

[courtesy Google Images]

As you’ll see in the video below, there’s “no reasonable expectation of privacy” in Obamacare.  If so, who is likely to have access to whatever personal information you input into the Obamacare website?  Other governmental entities?  All other governmental entities?  Private corporations?  Possible employers?

Is the lack of privacy on the Obamacare website merely accidental?  Just another one of government’s endless series of screw-ups?

Or, is the lack of privacy evidence that a fundamental purpose for Obamacare is to collect personal information on everyone who signs up and then freely disperse that information to everything that currently counts as, or is closely associated with, “government”?

Even though the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) has been described as President Obama’s “signature legislation” (the primary achievement of his administration), there are recent reports that President Obama doesn’t want his name associated with that Act.  In other words, Obama doesn’t want people to refer to the law as “Obamacare”.

Even Obama is trying to distance himself from “Obamacare”.

Maybe we could change the name to “Democare”–but I doubt the Democrats would agree to be tarred with that brush, either.

Hmm . . . how ’bout “Anonymous-care” or “Faceless-Bureaucrat-Care?  Then we can’t know who’s responsible so nobody gets blamed, right?  Or, maybe “Terrorist-care” so we can blame Al Caida rather than Obama.  How ’bout “Commie-Care”?  Now, there’d be some truth in advertising!

Obama: “If you misrepresent what’s in ObamaCare, we will call you out!”

Back in A.D. 2009, President Obama addressed Congress to advocate passage of the Affordable Care Act (“ObamaCare”).  During that speech, President Obama addressed some of the “key controversies” raised in opposition to ObamaCare.

Among those controversies were “bogus claims” that Obamacare would:

1. “set up panels of bureaucrats to kill off senior citizens.”

2.  “insure illegal immigrants.”

3.  “fund abortions.”

Obama looked Congress and the American people in the eye and dismissed each of those claims as lies.  Today, however, it appears that all of those claims were true.

During that speech, Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) shouted, “You lie!” at President Obama and caused a minor scandal. The moment immediately after Wilson shouted “You lie!” is seen in the video below.  Vice President Biden looks stern.  Nancy Pelosi looks shocked.  President Obama just smirks as if to say “So what?  Whatcha gonna do about it?”

President Obama dismissed the allegation that he lied as “untrue” and closed his speech with a warning that, “If you misrepresent what’s in this plan, we will call you out.

In other words, if anyone lies about the contents of ObamaCare, President Obama—that bastion of truthfulness and personal integrity—and his administration would publicly expose the lie and the liar.

Here’s a short video (00:02:29) of excerpts of that A.D. 2009 speech by President Obama (again, note the facial expressions after Representative Wilson said “You lie!”):

•  OK—here we are, four years later, and The Washington Times recently published an article entitled, “Was Rep. Joe Wilson right? Proof Obama made health care promise 23 times”.

Neuroplasticity” is the theory that the brain is not “fixed” and “hard-wired” early in life, but can be rewired so long as we live.  You can not only teach an old dog new tricks, you can teach the “dog” (actually a man or woman) to rewire his own brain to “see” with its tongue and achieve balance with its eyes rather than inner ears.  “Old dogs” like myself find this concept amazing.

The theory of neuroplasticity was proposed in the 1900s, but wasn’t taken seriously.

Paul Bach-y-Rita (1934-2006) was an American neuroscientist and one of the first to seriously study neuroplasticity and to introduce sensory substitution as a tool to treat patients suffering from neurological disorders.  By means of sensory substitution, the brain can be “re-wired” to allow the blind to to “see” with the skin on their backs.  People who’ve suffered damage to their inner ear and thereby lost their sense of balance can be trained to “re-balance” using their tongues.

It sounds crazy, but it is, instead, amazing.
